What is my online identity?

What is my online identity?

There is and has been various social platforms for people to express themselves through e.g. MySpace and now Facebook. It seems only natural that us as individuals represent ourselves in a way that is perceived as positive to those we interact with and our involved community. On the other hand, there’s something about stirring the pot that excites me and others #troll.

Services I use: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube & Google+

When it comes to providing a positive impact on my social networks, I like to minimize my uploads (1-3 statuses or photos every few months). Maybe this is because I am my own judge, and I don’t believe I need others opinions or likes to justify what I’ve done or who I am. In saying that, I don’t think it is bad thing to share and express yourself on these services but like the majority of us I have seen some awful examples of why not to share some information. Personally I like to look back at my posts and reflect on what that time was for me and how those decisions have shaped me. I feel that sharing a status or photo doesn’t really effect and I merely use the services to check in with friends, family and work associates.

When it comes down to it, I like to portray myself as someone with a creative personality who incorporates a level of professionalism. I follow some simple steps before sharing anything:
1. Would I like this if I saw it?
2. Am I offending any of my immediate friends or family?
3. Would I want this to be seen by a new person I just met?

However, when interacting with other individuals on social networks I am comfortable to express my opinion and I always try my best to provide value in the context of the topic.

I guess that’s a wrap for this weeks activity. I’m very open-minded and am open to constructive feedback or merely a hello so don’t forget to leave a comment at the bottom! I look forward to collaborating with everyone in the future.
